Bregy has accepted a superintendent position with School District 112 based in Highland Park.

Superintendent Michael Bregy is leaving Community Unit School District 300 to take the superintendent position at North Shore School District 112 based in Highland Park, the Daily Herald reports.

The District 112 Board of Education on Tuesday night voted unanimously to hire Bregy. Bregy's first day is May 29. Bregy told the Daily Herald he wasn't looking to leave District 300, but agreed to an interview for the position when contacted by a recruiter working for District 112.

Bregy was hired as CUSD 300's superintendent in 2011. Throughout his teaching career, he worked as a third-grade teacher and taught middle-school math, according to his bio.

He joined District 300 in 2001 as the assistant principal at Jacobs High School in Algonquin, and became principal at the school in 2004.

District 300 is the sixth largest school district in the state, serving 21,000 students spread among 15 communities, the bio states. District 115 has 4,500 students spread among three towns, the Daily Herald story states.
