Students Compete in Mr. Cary-Grove 2011

The fourth Annual Mr. Cary-Grove 2011 was held Tuesday evening at Cary-Grove High School.

The Cary-Grove High School student council presented the fourth annual Mr. Cary-Grove 2011 on Tuesday evening. 

The event was packed with entertainment from Cary Grove's best and brightest seniors.

The eight contestants chosen for this year were: Thomas Schick, Alex Kotz, Jacob Cunningham, John McKune, Rob Englund, Jonathan Guay, Tanner Agar, and Nick Richter.

The event kicked off with an opening dance followed by an intro of the contestants with their escorts, and the judges.

After viewing video montages from each of the contestants, they then performed in the talent portion of the competition. There were comedy skits, singing, and dancing with the audience erupting in laughter and applause.

The students then presented beach attire followed by a pie-eating contest, which senior Nick Richter won.

The winner of the Mr. Cary-Grove 2011 was  Thomas Schick. He will receive a $1,000 scholarship. In 2nd place was John McKune who will receive $500 and in 3rd place Nick Richter who will receive $250.

"As an event that brought out the community to support Cary-Grove graduating seniors by giving them scholarships to further their education beyond graduation, the night was a huge success,"Carole Gilbert, who was one of the judges, said.

"There was a large turnout for a Tuesday  and you could see that local businesses were supporting it as well by donating services."

She added, "For a evening of light entertainment that focused on the partnership between school, community, teens and education the evening proved worthwhile and entertaining, while also giving some students time to be recognized before their upcoming graduation."
