School District Prepares for Newt Gingrich Visit

Barrington 220 School District is gearing up for the Presidential candidate to visit the Barrington High School on March 15.

Area high schoolstudents and community members are gearing up for a visit from Presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich on March 15.

The former Speaker of the U.S. House will speak at Barrington High School at 9 a.m. His wife, Callista Gingrich, will be reading to students at in Carpentersville at 10:30 a.m.

“There’s a lot going on from a logistics standpoint as well as in the classrooms,” Barrington 220 Chief Communications Officer Jeff Arnett said of the visit. “We met yesterday with Gingrich’s advanced team and members of the secret service. They did a walk through of the school and looked at the auditorium and discussed details with us.”

The same was done at Sunny Hill Elementary with members of Callista Gingrich’s advanced team in preparation for her visit there.

Community members who are interested in attending Newt Gingrich’s appearance at Barrington High School must head to Barrington220.org and print out a ticket. There are only a limited number available.

“We anticipate a full auditorium,” Arnett said.

Newt Gingrich will be the third current or future Presidential candidate to visit Barrington High School. Barack Obama and John F. Kennedy, Jr. have also made appearances there.
