School District 155 Releases Details on Budget

The district is analyzing pay rates at every employee level.

The School District 155 has released an announcement about the district's budget and how the board has reduced its operating budget and abated the tax levy request.

"As tax bills begin to arrive in mailboxes, we would like our community to understand what District 155 is doing to continue serving our students effectively while being responsible with the resources entrusted to us. The district administration and board of education are mindful of economic conditions and are operating with a long-term mindset. To that end, we hope this publication will provide background and facts related to your tax dollars at work," the District 155 release states.

  • District 155 eliminated $2.5 million from its 2010-2011 operating budget to maintain a balanced budget.
  • The district is planning further budget reductions for the 2011-2012 school year.
  • District 155’s per pupil operating expenditure of $11,767 is one of the lowest among high school districts in Chicagoland.
  • District 155 is committed to reducing costs without eliminating programs for students or teaching positions, wherever possible.
  •  The district is analyzing pay rates at every employee level. Administrators voluntarily took a salary freeze for this year and have volunteered to do so again next year.

The district's administrative salaries for fiscal year 2010/2011 are:

  • Superintendent Jill Hawk earned $198,523, according to district reports, and is eligible for up to $22,085 in bonuses. 
  • Assistant Superintendent John Lutsch, $164,193
  • Prairie Ridge High School Principal Paul Humpa , $155,529
  • Crystal Lake Central High School Principal Steve Olson, $155,529
  • Central South High School Principal Marsha Potthoff, $153,226
  • Cary-Grove High School Principal Jay Sargeant, $142,800
  • Human Resources Director Randy Davis, $140,454
  • Cary-Grove High School Vice Principal Bill Kopanda $135,309
  • Crystal Lake South High School Vice Principal Joe Cole $135,309
  • Prairie Ridge High School Vice Principal Lisa Connell $135,309
  • Crystal Lake Central High School Vice Principal Lorena Gorey $125,460
