Neither rain nor chilly temperatures were able to dampen students' school spirit on Friday afternoon.

Crystal Lake South High School celebrated its homecoming weekend with a parade on Friday, followed by the traditional football games.

The Gators started the afternoon with an end-of-the-day pep assembly, and then students quickly made their way to Woodscreek Park, corner of Ackman and Golf Course roads, for the parade.

Flatbed trailers and trucks carried the football, hockey, volleyball and LaCrosse teams. Student golfers chose to ride, appropriately, in golf carts. The band and poms squad walked the route, which started at the park and ended at South High School.

Several students participated in the "Swamp My Ride" contest, decorating their cars in alligator fashion and adapting this year's homecoming theme, "Super Heroes."

Kids who lined the parade route picked up a large amount of candy as the generous parade participants empty their loot to the crowd.

The Gators sophomore football team took to Ken Bruhn Field at 5 p.m., and lost their game against the McHenry High School warriors. But, the varsity team faired better, and delivered a victorious homecoming game.
