'My Sister's Dress' Sale is Saturday at MCC

Big Brothers Big Sisters of McHenry County fundraiser makes prom dresses affordable for everyone.

 

Prom is quickly approaching, and many teenage girls already are searching for that perfect dress for their special night.

The Big Brothers Big Sisters Program of McHenry County is making that search a lot easier on the pocket book.

BBBS will hold its annual "My Sister's Dress" sale from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, March 9, at McHenry County College, 8900 Route 14, Crystal Lake.

New and gently used prom dresses in all styles, colors and sizes will be sold for $25 each. Accessories such as jewelry and purses will be sold for $5. All items have been donated.

Shoppers also will have the opportunity to win a variety of prizes donated by Shelley's Bridal, Countryside Flower Shop, McHenry Limousine, Black Tie Formal Wear, Sexson Orthodontics, and Taylor Stevens Salon & Spa.

The annual prom dress event serves the dual purpose of making dresses affordable to teenagers while raising funds for the McHenry County BBBS program. BBBS pairs adult mentors with young boys and girls in the community.

Dress donations may be dropped off at the following locations:

  • Big Brothers Big Sisters office in McHenry
  • Participating high schools in McHenry County
  • American Community Bank locations in Crystal Lake, 381 S. Main St.; Huntley, 10101 N. Route 47; Woodstock and McHenry
  • Taylor Stevens Salon and Spa, 1940 S. Randall Rd., Algonquin
  • McHenry County College in Crystal Lake
  • Sage Products, 3909 Three Oaks Rd., in Cary
  • Star 105.5 in Crystal Lake
