Community High School District 155 officials are pondering an eight-percent tax hike for next year, the Northwest Herald is reporting.
School officials during a finance committee meeting last week presented a tax rate hike of 2.711 percent for the 2012 levy, up from 2.298 percent in the 2011 tax year, the Herald article stated.
District 155 is looking to collect $74.5 million in taxes next year, an eight percent increase over the $68.9 million in taxes it received last year. But, the tax cap would limit the district's take to about $73.6 million next year, the story said.
The District 155 School Board is expected to vote on the tentative levy on Monday, the Herald reported.
