Fox River Grove: Homecoming Parade, Norge, 5K Run Happening this Weekend

Three major events in Fox River Grove this weekend.

The village of Fox River Grove wants to advise residents and anyone passing through town of three major events happening this weekend. 

Cary-Grove Homecoming Parade On Saturday, Oct. 5,
The Cary-Grove Homecoming Parade will weave through parts of the Fox River Grove this Saturday morning. Parade entries will line up at 8:30 a.m., and the parade is scheduled to kick off at 9 a.m., according to a FRG news alert. 

The parade route is the following: From Old Hunt Road to Algonquin Road to South River to Lion's Park. There will be restrictive parking along the parade route and traffic delays.

The parade is expected to conclude by 10 a.m., at which time it will move over to neighboring Cary.  

Norge Autumn Ski Jump, Saturday and Sunday, Oct. 5-6

Skiers will be soaring through the Fox River Grove sky this weekend during the Norge Autumn Ski Jump. The viewing area opens at 11 a.m. and competition is expected to run from 12 to 4 p.m. 

Motorists should be award of restricted parking along Ski Hill Road and increased pedestrian traffic, the village notice stated. 

Fox Chase 5K Race, Sunday, Oct. 6

the Fox Chase 5K Race is scheduled to begin at 9 a.m. Sunday morning.

Racers will line up at 8:30 a.m. on Millard by Stanger Park. 

The 5K Route is as follows: Millard to Lincoln to South River, run through Lion's Park, to Millard to Beachway, right on Lincoln to Algonquin Road. Algonquin Road to Lexington then through the Foxmoor Subdivision - Lexington to Asbury to Foxmoor to Hunter's Way to Thackeray to Essex to Old Hunt to Algonquin Road.  Finishing at Algonquin Road School. 

There will be intermittent closures at intersections. Motorists should beware of runners on the roadway and exercise caution. The race should be over at about 10:30 a.m., the village release states.
