Ayurveda is ancient Indian healing system. Ayu means ‘life’ and veda means 'science'. So the literal meaning of Ayurveda is science of life.

Ayur What? is often the response to the introduction of this science. However, over the past couple years it is popping up in the main stream, just recently reviewed on Dr. OZ December 8th, 2010 on his segment "Alternative Health Secrets around the World"

Ayurveda is the ancient Indian healing system, the word literally means "science of life". Ayurveda is the world's oldest healing system recorded used for over 5,000 years by many thousands of Vaidyas, or Ayurveda physicians. It is a proven system of prevention and healing. Ayurveda's goal is to achieve health by working towards balance and harmony, Ayurveda recognizes the importance of physical balance, emotional release, mental health, environmental mindfulness and spiritual progression in the total health picture. It is based on prevention, health maintenance, rejuvenation, and self-realization through medicinal nutrition, including herbs, spices, and teas; through body treatments such as, abhyanga massage, and practices such as, yoga and meditation. It is considered the "Sister Science" to Yoga.
