District 47 Board Takes Small Steps Toward Replacing Superintendent

Former District 47 Superintendent Donn Mendoza resigned earlier this month.

The Crystal Lake School District 47 School Board began discussions in executive session Monday over how to replace former superintendent Donn Mendoza, according to the Northwest Herald.

Mendoza's resignation was announced during a board meeting earlier this month. Mendoza earned about $167,220 per year. He was in the middle of a five-year contract that would have expired in June 2016.

Last fall, Mendoza was publicly reprimanded after a police officer said he found the superintendent sleeping in his back seat and appeared to be intoxicated, according to the Northwest Herald.
