District 26 to Discuss Fiscal Year 2012 Budget, Technology Plan

Cary School District 26 will hold their regular Board of Education meeting tonight at 7 p.m.

Cary School District 26 will be holding their regular Board of Education tonight to discuss and take action on the tentative budget for fiscal year 2012 and the technology plan for the upcoming school year.

 T. Ferrier, director of finance and operations said the tentative budget for fiscal year 2012 is a balanced budget because of the successful passage of the referendum in November 2010.

The total revenue for fiscal year 2012 is projected to be $31.6 million, with a projected $32.5 million in expenditures.

However, the district will begin with a fund balance of $4.9 million, which will end fiscal year 2012 with a positive $3.92 million according to the administration's projections.

Board member Kevin Carrick said the tentative budget stands as if the current contract between the district and the teachers’ union were to extend to next year.
