District 26 Hires Schubert from District 300 to Replace Finance Director Leaving to District 155

Cary District 26 School Board members approved the hiring of Jeffrey Schubert as its new Finance and Operations Director for the 2013-2014 school year.

Schubert is replacing Cary's current finance director, T. Ferrier, who has been hired as the new assistant superintendent of finance by Community High School District 155 based in Crystal Lake, according to a District 26 press release.

District 26 started its search process with a screened selection of 21 applicants for the position, and interviewed six candidates. The interviews were conducted by a committee comprised of the superintendent, administrators, staff, board member and principal, according District 26.

The committee unanimously agreed Schubert was the "best and top candidate for the position," according to the release.

Schubert has worked for Consolidated Unit School District 300, based in Carpentersville, as an assistant purchasing manager while also completing a CFO internship.

He has a bachelor's degrees in business administration and human resources from Columbia College. He also acquired a masters degree in school business management with an Illinois certification as chief school business official, the release stated.

"Mr. Schubert demonstrated the qualities and leadership skills the district is looking for in our effort to continue to move the district forward financially," said Scott Coffey, District 26 Board Finance Committee chairman and member of the interview team.

The District 26 School Board approved a one-year contract for Schubert at its regular BOE meeting on May 20. Schubert will receive a $93,000 salary, starting from July 1, 2013 - June 30, 2014, the release stated.

"Mr. Schubert's solid financial training and course work, coupled with his current work and internship experience in District 300 has provided him the necessary knowledge and experience to be successful in this position," said District 26 Superintendent Brian Coleman.
