Crystal Lake South Principal Marsha Potthoff Leaving to McHenry West

Longtime Community High School District 155 employee Marsha Potthoff is leaving for McHenry.

Just two weeks ago Crystal Lake South High School Principal Marsha Potthoff bid farewell to the graduating class of 2013.

The ceremony was bittersweet for Potthoff who, after serving as South's principal for 10 years, was planning to move into an administrative position next year at the Community High School District 155 headquarters in Crystal Lake.

But it appears Potthoff will be returning to school, although with another district.

Potthoff was selected this past week by the McHenry District 156 School Board as the new principal for McHenry West High School, according to the Northwest Herald. Potthoff has a connection to McHenry West as her husband, Drew Potthoff, was District 156's former athletic director and retired two years ago, the story stated.

In total, Marsha Potthoff worked 17 years at District 155. District 156 has offered her a one-year contract with a base salary of about $132,000, which is less than the $155,524 she earned as principal at Crystal Lake South, the Northwest Herald reports.
