Crystal Lake High Graduates Excelling at Next Level

Former local students are graduating or receiving high honors in college.

Gabrielle Ethier, a Mathematics major from Crystal Lake, graduated in the Dec. 17 commencement ceremony held at University of Wisconsin-Platteville's Williams Fieldhouse. The December graduation was the largest graduation, with 586 graduate and undergraduate students receiving degrees.

University of Wisconsin-Platteville is settled in a historic mining town near the Iowa and Illinois borders and enrolls nearly 8,000 students. It is an institution whose mission is to produce intellectually astute individuals who will participate in society as competent professionals and knowledgeable citizens. Justin Wouters of Crystal Lake has earned Semester Honors for the Fall 2011 semester at Edgewood College. Full-time students who achieve a 3.5 grade-point average for the semester are eligible for this honor.

Wouters is a senior, majoring in Business.

Located in Madison, WI, Edgewood College is a liberal arts Catholic college in the Dominican tradition, with 2,500 undergraduate and graduate students. The following local residents to received their degrees with the 66th graduating class from Judson University during their commencement ceremonies in December:

  • Carly Campioni, a resident of Crystal Lake, received a degree in Business Administration.
  • Julia Hespen, a resident of Crystal Lake, received a degree in Psychology.
  • Lynette Pangburn, a resident of Crystal Lake, received a degree in Human Services.
  • Kelsey Schiel, a resident of Crystal Lake, received a degree in Physical Education.

Judson University held two seperate commencement ceremonies in Herrick Chapel this year, in an effort to allow more family members to attend the event and to provide a more intimate setting for the service.

The following local students have been named to Beloit College's Dean's List for the fall semester:

To be eligible for the Dean's List, a student must carry a semester GPA of 3.4 or higher and take a minimum of 3 letter-graded units for the term.
