UPDATE: Crystal Lake Central Dance Team Wins State Title

The Tiger Varsity Dance Team won the IHSA Class 2 A State Championship on Saturday in Bloomington.

The Crystal Lake Central Varsity Dance Team won the Class 2A State Dance Championship on Saturday, at the U.S. Cellular Coliseum in Bloomington.

The team had danced its way into the finals after advancing from the preliminary round on Friday.

Crystal Lake Central won the Class 2A title with a score of 90.32, slightly edging out Lake Forest, which had a score of 89.88, according to the IHSA results page.

Looks like the Crystal Lake Central Varsity Dance Team had all the right moves on Friday.

The Tigers Dance/ Poms Team competed against 90 other squads from throughout the state in the IHSA State Dance preliminary round held in Bloomington.

Team performances began at 10:15 a.m. and ran through 8:15 p.m. on Friday., according to the IHSA schedule.

By day's end, the field had been whittled down to 30 final teams. Crystal Lake Central was the only area team to advance.

Varsity Dance/ Poms teams from Crystal Lake South, Jacobs, Woodstock North and Johnsburg high schools also competed in the preliminaries, according to the IHSA results webpage.

The Tigers are scheduled to perform their competitive dance routine at 3:10 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 26.
