CL South Hockey's Jake Bigos Leads Division in Goals

Bigos is division's top-goal scorer and was named to the All-State team.

CLS Gators Hockey captain Jake Bigos was the leading scorer in the Illinois High School Hockey League North Central Division this year.

Bigos netted 52 goals and 42 assists for 94 points, according to CLS Gators Asst. Coach Wayne Bower.

Overall, Bigos has 126 points (67 goals, 59 assists). With the state and league playoffs still ahead of him, Bigos trails only Eric Purcell (132 points in 2009-10) in South's record books, Bower said.

Bigos' 256 career points (146 goals 110 assists) have him 3rd over all, needing only 6 points to tie Brandon Moderhack and move into 2nd in career points for a career.

"Bigos made the most of his appearance in the Illinois High School Hockey All-State game by scoring the game's first goal and was a factor in the play throughout the entire evening," Bower said.

His appearance on the All-State team made it four years in a row that South has placed a player among the state's elite. Joey Bower (2012) and Kenny Hall (2010 and 2011) share that honor with Bigos.

The Gators began league playoffs in a best of three series against Highland Park. The first game was Sunday, and the Gators beat Highland Park 7-1. The teams face each other again tonight for game two.
