Cary Whiz Kids of the Week: Cary-Grove Trojans Lacrosse Club

The Cary-Grove Trojans Lacrosse Club will begin their playoff run today.

The Cary Grove Trojans Lacrosse is the "unofficial" lacrosse team for
Cary-Grove High School.

The Varsity and JV teams (40+ players strong)
compete in the NILAX League against other area high school clubs.

They are the 2010 NILAX League State Champions and were undefeated in their regular 2010 season.

The 2011 Varsity team is currently 13-1 with two more regular
season games.

The varsity team is seeded #1 going into the State NILAX Championships and will play their first playoff game on Thursday, May 26th at the Galway field.

The Cary Grove Trojans Lacrosse Club was founded in Spring 2006, by first
President Rick Rowe, organizer, Karlene Mondloch and first coach, Tim Moony.

The squad would actually co-op with Prairie Ridge for the very first season and
the first team consisted mostly of freshmen and sophomores, and some 8th
graders too.  Now the Trojans' JV and Varsity teams consist of
student/athletes (40+) from every grade in high school.

The teams practice at SS Peter & Paul church/school and each year the boys hold a Clean-Up Day to weed, mulch and perform any requested maintenance to show their gratitude.  The program is coached by Brendan Gorman, Tim Moony, Zac Dorn and Korey Homola.

Zach and Kory are previous standout players from past Trojans seasons.

Since 2007, the program has enjoyed over 70 wins, and only
5 losses, including several division championships, easily making the CG
Trojans Lacrosse Club one of the most successful programs in the state.

In addition to being strong student/athletes, the boys are regarded by many
who have officiated their games as a highly skilled and reputable group of
young men who consistently show respect for the sport, coaches, officiators
and each other.

Their sportsmanship is what makes them successful both on
and off the field.
