Area Students Continue to Shine at Next Level

High School graduates take top honors, graduate from college and more.

Washington University

The following students were named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester at Washington University in St. Louis.

  • Caroline Laura Burney of Crystal Lake was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Burney is a graduate of in Crystal Lake, and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.
  • Kathryn Anne Sullivan of Crystal Lake was named to the Dean's List for the fall 2011 semester. Sullivan is a graduate of Prairie Ridge High School in Crystal Lake, and is enrolled in the university's College of Arts & Sciences. To qualify for the Dean's List in the College of Arts & Sciences, students must earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5 or above and be enrolled in at least 14 graded units.

Drake University

Amelia Mieth of Crystal Lake graduated from Drake University at the conclusion of the 2011 fall semester with a Bachelor of Science in Education in Secondary Teacher Education.

University of Wisconsin- Platteville

Joseph Devito of Crystal Lake earned academic honors for the fall 2011 semester at the University of Wisconsin- Platteville. Devito made the Chancellor's List by earning a 4.0 grade-point average during the semester. Attainment of the Chancellor's list represents the highest academic achievement at UW- Platteville.

 

Augustana College

The Augustana Symphonic Band's 2012 tour of the Pacific Coast included stops in California, Oregon and Washington. To conclude the tour, the band performed at Centennial Hall on Augustana's campus.

Amanda Wortham, a senior from Crystal Lake majoring in music education- instrumental, was part of the band.
