Quinn Announces $664K in LITH Airport Improvements

The project will involve the construction of an apron, or aircraft parking area, as well as a new fuel facility.

Governor Pat Quinn announced Thursday a $664,000 capital investment for a construction project at the Lake in the Hills Airport in McHenry County.

The project is part of Quinn’s agenda to create jobs and drive Illinois’ economy forward. The contract was awarded following a competitive bidding process and addresses a critical infrastructure need while creating construction jobs, according to a press release from Quinn's office.

“Investments in airports like this one in Lake in the Hills make them safer and more efficient,”  Quinn said in the press release. “The project will also employ a number of construction workers, which will drive local economy forward.”

“Investing in our physical infrastructure and transportation system is a solid use of taxpayer funds,” State Senator Karen McConnaughay (R-St. Charles), the Republican Spokesperson for the Senate Transportation Committee, said. “I’m happy to see that these funds will be used to help residents in my district, and that an Illinois company has been chosen to do the work.”

The state funds for the project come from Governor Quinn’s $31 billion Illinois Jobs Now! program, which supports more than 439,000 jobs over six years. It is the largest capital construction program in Illinois history, and is one of the largest capital construction programs in the nation.
