McHenry County State's Attorney Suing Over Anonymous Online Comments

McHenry County State's Attorney Louis Bianchi filed a lawsuit against an unknown commenter who posted critical statements about Bianchi on a local blog site.

McHenry County State's Attorney Louis Bianchi filed a lawsuit as a private citizen in Chicago last month regarding statements posted by an anonymous commenter on McHenry County Blog, according to an article in the Northwest Herald. The lawsuit claims the comments intended to defame, discredited and disparage Bianchi's reputation.

Bianchi is seeking $75,000 damages against "John Doe" who posted the critical statements under the user name "Fukoku Kyohei." The mysterious commenter often referred to Bianchi as "Mr. Corruption," the story said. Bianchi's attorney told the Northwest Herald that John Doe's IP address and identity will come out as the case proceeds.
