Huntley, Centegra Talk about New Hospital Plans

Officials discuss issues like traffic and design of the Centegra-Huntley Hospital, the Northwest Herald reports.

Huntley trustees and planning commissioners met with Centegra Health System officials Thursday to talk about issues surrounding the proposed Centegra-Huntley Hospital, the Northwest Herald reports.

The building would also have a helipad for transferring critical need patients.

Thursday marked the beginning of the review process for Centegra’s plans. It hopes to break ground by October.

The public will get a chance to weigh in on the plans through public hearings scheduled 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 19 and Wednesday, March 6 at village hall, 10987 Main St. in Huntley.

I do not live in the immediate area. But the hospital did talk about doing a traffic study, meeting with all of the EMS workers, etc. Why not come to one of the public hearings which will be at the Village Hall and listen to their presentation and then express your concerns? Someone from Southwind sat behind me last night and was happier with their proposed relocation of the hospital than what was originally proposed about where it would be located and facing on the acreage. My concern is the noise which all of us would hear from the helicopter landing on their pad. I also think that there is going to have to be traffic light additions as well as officers or crossing guards handling the children going into the Marlowe campus. For this, I hope that someone from the School Board will be at the hearings and address those worries.

I live right next to the planned site and I am terrifically excited about this opportunity for our village. Have you ever had an emergency and had to drive to Memorial in the middle of the night with a very sick child? I have and it is far too long. Thank you, Centegra.

I wish Patch had used an updated picture- the new plan shows the Hospital building between Healthbridge and the current immediate care/doctors office building.

How many helicopters do you think will actually land there?

I asked a similar question at the VOH meeting Thursday night to the Centegra executive sitting near me. Currently they plan to build one helicopter pad to accommodate Flights of Life and transfers between hospitals(rare situations). Is that what you mean?
