Grafton Township Struggles to Pay Bills Amid Financial Crisis

Township board met Thursday night to discuss which bills to pay, and which ones to put off.

The Grafton Township board in a meeting Thursday night discussed which bills to pay, and which to delay payment in light of its grime financial state, the First Electric Newspaper reports.

Supervisor Linda Moore, who lost her bid for re-election, said the township has $122,000 in the bank to cover about $250,000 worth of payrolls before more arrive in June, FEN reports. As Moore and the rest of the trustees argued over which bills to pay, members of the newly elected township board watched with dismay, the FEN article stated.

Trustee Betty Zirk also said Moore "botched" financial statements for Tuesday's Annual Township Meeting for both the Road District and the Township. Zirk said the Road District statement was off $75,000, and the Township's was almost $250,000 in error, the story said.
