The attached photograph shows a 125-year-old burr oak tree that once stood at 300 Lake Shore Dr., Crystal Lake.

The tree was destroyed in a July 2011 storm, but acorns were gathered and cultivated by McHenry County Nursery/Glacier Oaks Nursery, Leech said in a press release.

This effort resulted in 170 burr oak seedlings that will be awarded to entrants of the Ugliest Yard contest. Some of the young trees will be planted in Crystal Lake Park District Parks, Leech said.
