Election 2013: Two Seeking Role of Cary Mayor, Three Running for Trustee

Two candidates are running for mayor of Cary.

 

The only contested race for the Cary Village Board in the April 9 Consolidated Election is for the position of village mayor.

Sitting Mayor Tom Kierna has opted not to seek re-election, leaving the spring race open between Village Trustee Bruce Kaplan and newcomer Mark Kownick. Both candidates filed petition packets to run for the mayoral seat, according to village officials.

Kaplan is midway through a four-year village trustee term.

Incumbent Village Clerk Nancy Bragg is also seeking re-election. She is running uncontested.

As for the rest of the Cary Village Board, three of six trustee posts will be deciced by voters this April. Trustee seats held by Rick Dudek, Ray Chisholm and Jeff Kraus are up for election, according to village officials.

Incumbents Dudek, Kraus and newcomer David Chapman are running of those board positions. Chisholm is not running again. All three seats carry four-year terms.
