Crystal Lake to Reinstall Decorative Street Light Fixtures

Workers will reinstall the decorative light fixtures along Route 14 in Crystal Lake over the next couple weeks.

After several months of waiting, the city of Crystal Lake will reinstall the decorative street light arm assemblies along the Route 14 corridor starting Monday, Nov. 4.

The fixtures were removed last February as a precautionary measure after city workers noticed an issue with the performance of the hardware on the new lights during a routine inspection.

City officials were concerned the hardware on the new light poles wouldn't hold the weight of a heavy snowfall.

For that reason, city staffers reached out to the light fixture manufacturer to find replacement hardware that is safe and reliable under various weather conditions.

The city's street light maintenance contractor will be reinstalling the arm assemblies over the next two to three weeks, pending weather conditions, according to the city.

Motorists should expect intermittent lane closures from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
