Crystal Lake Moves Forward with Wakeboard Park at Three Oaks Recreation

The proposed wakeboard park is expected to open in 2015.

A cable wakeboard park at Three Oaks Recreation Area is one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Crystal Lake City Council this past week approved the first phase of proposed plans for the 32-acre park at North Lake that would include six towers in the lake, according to the Northwest Herald.

The towers would have cables attached at the top "that would pull riders around a course with obstacles and stunt jump," according to the Northwest Herald.

A restaurant with a full-service bar and patio is also proposed for the park as is a 80-space parking lot, according to the city of Crystal Lake council packet.

The developer, Copley McGinnis Group LLC, is now expected to submit a facility and site plan for approval by the Planning and Zoning commission before heading to the city council for final approval, according to city documents.

The site is expected to open in 2015.
