The Crystal Lake Public Library has increased its partnership with Community Harvest, giving patrons two ways to help the Crystal Lake Food Pantry.
Pay It Forward Library Fines Forgiveness:
Library card holders can settle overdue fines with the Crystal Lake Public Library if they pay by cash, or write a check to the Crystal Lake Food Pantry for half the amount of their fines. The library will waive the remaining half.
Early Drop-Off Site:
The library, located at 126 Paddock St., will serve as a early drop-off site for the Community Harvest Food Donation drive. Patrons can visit the Crystal Lake Chamber website to see the items recommended for donation.
Needed items include cans of chili; side dishes such as noodles and rice; stuffing; macaroni and cheese; Jello pudding; pasta and spaghetti sauce; and canned milk.
Community Harvest combines the efforts of the Crystal Lake Chamber, Crystal Lake Jaycees, and the Crystal Lake Food Pantry, 257 King St., with numerous churches, local businesses, civic organizations, schools and residents throughout the community to collect food and funds throughout the fall season.
Donations, both food and monetary, are used to benefit clients of the Crystal Lake Food Pantry as well as the Jaycees’ Share-A-Christmasprogram.
