Crystal Lake 2013 Election Results: City Councilmen Keep Seats, Changes for District 47
Crystal Lake preliminary election results from April 9, 2013.

Crystal Lake City Council Results:
Crystal Lake voters opted to keep their City Council as is, but selected newcomers for the District 47 School Board.
With unofficial votes tallied, voters re-elected incumbent city councilmen Jeffrey T. Thorsen (1,841 votes), Ralph Dawson (1,808 votes) and Cameron D. Hubbard (1,798 votes).

The three council members faced a considerable challenge from local resident James Tomasello, who ran a stealthy campaign with a plethora of large election signs posted throughout the city. Tomasello received 1,394 preliminary votes.
Another challenger, Charles Ebann, who serves on the Crystal Lake Library Board, was unsuccesful in his bid for a seat, receiving 987 votes.

Crystal Lake Community School District 47
Two incumbents lost their seats on the District 47 School Board when votes were totaled by day's end.
Board members Ruth Scifo and Robert Routzahn, who received 2,179 and 2,305 votes respectively, lost their seats to newcomers Dr. Betsy Les, Donna Ricci and Eileen Palsgrove.
Les, who retired as a District 47 school principal three years ago, received the most votes of all candidates with 2,796.
Incumbent District 47 School Board president Jeffrey Mason was re-elected with 2,570 votes.
Newcomer Palsgrove collected 2,439 votes, and another challenger, Ricci, was tapped to serve with 2,438 votes, according to McHenry County vote results which don't include absentee or provisional ballots.

It's Election Day!
Voting for some Crystal Lake races will be easy. Races for Crystal Lake Park District Board of Commissioners and Community High School District 155 are uncontested.
The races to keep an eye on: Crystal Lake City Council, where five local men are vying for three council seats, and Crystal Lake Community Consolidated School District 47 where six candidates are competing for four seats.
