Crystal Lake City Council Approves 8.3 Percent Tax Levy Hike

Crystal Lake City Council votes to increase tax levy by 8.3 percent.

The Crystal Lake City Council on Tuesday, Dec. 17, approved an 8.3 percent tax levy increase, which should bring about $1.2 million more into the city coffers than last year, the Northwest Herald reports.

In total, the hike is expected to increase overall property tax revenue for the city from $14.7 million to $16 million. As an example, the owner of a $250,000 home will pay about $60.13 more in annual property tax payments to the city with the increased levy, the Herald reports.
