County Transportation Committee Approves $15.9 Million Expenditures for Randall Road Widening

The McHenry County Board will vote on the expenditures at its Feb. 4 meeting.

The McHenry County Board's Transportation Committee will recommend approval of a $15.9 million expenditure to design and buy property needed for a Randall Road widening project, the Northwest Herald reports. The County Board will likely vote on the expenditures at its Feb. 4 meeting.

The committee on Wednesday voted to recommend the county spend up to $9.1 million for the road expansion design, $1.75 million for a company to negotiate right-of-way land purchases, and another $5 million to buy the land, the Herald story stated. The county's highway plan estimates the project will cost $115 million overall, and add traffic capacity along a 3.5 mile stretch of Randall Road from Ackman Road in Crystal Lake south to County Line Road in Algonquin.
