Construction Could Start in June on Wakeboard Park in Crystal Lake

Construction could start as early as this June on a 32-acre cable wakeboard park at Three Oaks Recreation Area with plans to have the park, which could become a huge regional draw for Crystal Lake, up and running by the spring of 2015, according to the Northwest Herald.

The wakeboard park proposed by developer Copley McGinnis would include one six-tower wakeboard system and two "two-tower" systems as well as a 50,000-square-foot building on North Lake at Three Oaks Recreation area, according to city documents.

The developer is also proposing a restaurant, with a patio area; beach access; volleyball courts; an 80-space parking lot and trails for the property.

The towers would have cables attached at the top "that would pull riders around a course with obstacles and stunt jump," according to an article earlier this month on the Northwest Herald.

The parks are a "staple in Europe" but only starting to gain popularity in the United States and the proposed plan calls for two-hour packages at the Crystal Lake park to cost between $20 to $25 while all-day and seasonal passes will also be available, according to the Northwest Herald.
