Cary To Hold Electricity Aggregation Public Hearing

Cary residents authorized the village to pursue electricity aggregation and to negotiate rates on their behalf.

Cary will host a public hearing on electricity aggregation June 5 at 6:45 p.m. and on June 19 at 6:45 p.m.

Residents approved a March referendum authorizing the village to . Essentially, the approval means Cary can negotiate electricity rates for residents as a large group and, possibly, receive a lower bulk rate.

Although the referendum was approved residents had the option to opt out of the program.

The June public hearings will take place at Village Hall, 655 Village Hall Drive. Officials are considering a plan that "will describe how electricity service offers will be provided to all applicable residential and small commercial customers on an equal treatment bases," the village website states.
