The is coming into the 21st century with their new and improved website. Residents will be able to find out what is going on in the village on a daily basis through updates, meeting agendas, board packets and specific department news.
Tara Semenchuk, assistant to the village administrator, who has been one of the leaders of the project, said the new website is a noticeable improvement.
Website users can sign up for the Cary News Weekly and access current bids in which the village is involved.
"It will transform the way we communicate with the public," Village Administrator Chris Clark said Tuesday night. Clark explained that the website would allow the village to be more transparent by posting information about elected officials, budgets, public records and labor agreements.
In a unanimous vote in September 2011, the entered into a three-year contract with CivicPlus to completely redesign, host and maintain the village's website.
CivicPlus, which has been in business since 2004 and specializes in government websites, will help train users for the website by phone, Web and in person if need be. The company also will be available throughout the year to help with issues as they arise.
The village has agreed to pay CivicPlus $28,000 over a three-year period.
Each village department will have its own page to post community updates. The website is set to go live soon and the village's URL will remain the same.
