Cary Hires New Village Administrator

After nearly five months, the Village of Cary will have a new village administrator beginning Oct. 24.

The has hired Christopher Clark as their new village administrator.

Clark's contract agreement was made official at the Tuesday's regular village board meeting.

"I’m Very excited," Clark said. "I've been in city government business for 15 years and I'm just really excited to work for the village board of Cary and the residents of Cary, working with the staff to continue to deliver the high level services of this community."

Clark, who holds a bachelors' degree from Indiana University and a Masters' Degree from Northern Illinois University, comes to Cary from .

"You’ll find Chris to be extremely passionate and dedicated to his profession," Mayor Tom Kierna said."

Kierna added that Clark would be loyal to the community, elected officials, village residents and with that "combined with Chris’s education, training, well-rounded experiences and a strong work-ethic, Chris is well-suited to be the next village administrator for the Village of Cary."

"We look forward to having him for a long time," Kierna said.

Clark took the village administrator position because of the care and concern of the public officials and his ability to interact them.

"I think there a lot of exciting things going on here and I want to be a part of it and I see so many great opportunities for this community," Clark said.

, in which Cary Trustees Bob Bragg, Karen Lukasik, Bruce Kaplan and Jeff Kraus began their new terms in May.

However, two-weeks prior, Mayor Kierna . Davis, who had served Cary for 15 years, was the longest-serving professional administrator in Cary’s history.

Kierna had referred to the termination of Davis as a "mutual agreement."

The village has been operating without a village administrator since Davis departed in April. Village administrator duties include supervising department heads, providing weekly reports to the board and overseeing day-to-day village business.

However, with that position vacant, the Mayor, board members and village staff had to operate without a village administrator.

Clark is set to begin Oct. 24 and said he looks forward to providing customer service to the residents and meeting with the business community.

"Certainly economic development is going to be a significant issue for us on a move-forward basis and I'm going to be active with the business community," he said.
