Woman Charged with DUI, Child Endangerment after Car Crash

Kelly L. Kufke, 26, of Manitowoc, Wis., has been charged with several offenses including DUI following a two-car accident near Woodstock on Sunday, Jan. 26.

A Wisconsin woman has been arrested for DUI and child endangerment following a two-car crash this past weekend near Woodstock.

Kelly L. Kufke, 36, of Manitowoc, Wis., has been charged with driving under the influence of drugs/ combination of drugs, aggravated driving under the influence, endangering the life/ well-being of a child, failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, and improper lane use, according to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office.

Sheriff officials said Kufke was driving a 2013 Volkswagen Jetta south on Alden Road at about 4:43 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 26, when her car veered into the oncoming northbound lane and collided with a 2003 Honda Accord. 

The crash occurred in the 5400 block of Alden Road in unincorporated Alden Township near Woodstock, the sheriff's office said.

Kufke and her passengers, two children, were transported to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock. The driver of the Honda, James Long, of Walworth, Wis., did not need medical treatment; however, his three passengers were transported to Centegra Hospital in McHenry, the Sheriff's Office said. 

In addition to the charges leveled against Kufke, the Divisions of Child and Family Services in Wisconsin and Illinois were notified. 

Kufke is awaiting a court date.
