Vehicle Assistance Program to Benefit Senior Citizens

From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Oct. 7, senior citizens will have their vehicle inspected free of charge by students and instructors from McHenry County College.

The , led by Officer Kathleen Eiring, in conjunction with the Senior Center, the and the McHenry County College Automotive Department, will be hosting a program to assist Senior Citizens.

The program is intended to prevent seniors from becoming victims of car repair scams.

Seniors will be able to bring their cars to the parking lot of the located at 525 Ada St. where "inspection lanes" will be set up.

Members of the Mchenry County College automotive department will inspect the cars for basic problems, including tire safety, tire pressure, oil level, belts and wipers. 

The vehicle's wiper fluid will be filled at no cost as well.

Coupons will also be distributed from local automotive businesses including O'Reilly's, Auto Zone, NAPA and Midas.

Participants will then be directed to the parking lot of the Senior Center at 441 West Main where a free lunch will be provided.
