Truck, Garage Damaged in Crystal Lake Fire

An early Saturday morning fire caused about $15,000 damage at a Crystal Lake house.

A fire that started in a truck parked in a driveway spread to the home's garage in Crystal Lake early Saturday morning.

Crystal Lake Fire Rescue Department responded  at 8:19 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 23, to a house at 541 Eletson Drive after two neighbors called 911 to report the fire.

When firefighters arrived on the scene, they saw heavy smoke and fire coming from the truck in the driveway and the front of the garage. Firefighters worked to suppress the fire with an aggressive exterior fire attack, according to a news release issued by Batt. Chief William Whyte.

"The fire started in the truck on the driveway and spread to the garage," Whyte said. "The fire was contained to the front of the garage due to the efforts of fire rescue personnel."

The fire was brought under control after 15 minutes. Crystal Lake was assisted through automatic aid with fire resources from Algonquin Lake in the Hills Fire Protection District.

There were no injuries to any civilians or firefighters. Initial damage estimates are $15,000 for the truck and the structure, Whyte said.
