Rachel Leszczynski, 20, was cited with failure to yield following a two-car collision Monday morning on Route 14.

UPDATE Monday 6:30 p.m.:

A Crystal Lake woman was cited following a two-car collision on Route 14 shortly before noon on Monday.

Rachel Leszczynski, 20, was cited with failure to yield when turning left, according to a Crystal Lake Police Department news release.

Police said Leszczynski, driving a 2004 Pontiac Grand AM, was traveling northbound on Route 14 at about 11:15 a.m. and attempted to turn southbound onto Lucas Road, near McHenry County College.

Leszczynski turned into the path of a 2002 Honda Accord driven by Michael Nordin, 19, of Woodstock, which was traveling southeast on Route 14. Nordin had two passengers in the car.

Both cars collided within the intersection, and the Honda Accord left the road and hit a tree. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage, and were not drivable, requiring removal, Dziewior said.

Crystal Lake Fire and Rescue personnel assessed and transported all occupants from the vehicles. All four people were transported to Centegra Hospital-Woodstock with what was described as not life-threatening injuries, Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said in the release.

Traffic through the intersection was restricted for approximately 30 minutes while the subjects were tended to, the crash was investigated, and the vehicles and debris were removed.
