Traffic Alert: Crystal Lake Police Warn of Slick Road Conditions

Some roads in the Crystal Lake area are slippery.

Crystal Lake Police issued a weather-related driving alert at 1:15 p.m. Monday.

Light to occasionally moderate snowfall is expected over the new few hours combined with southwest winds gusting up to 25 to 30 mph. Visibility could become diminished to one-half mile or less at times, according to police.

Cold temperatures have allowed for a minor accumulation of snow on some roads and the formation of black ice.

Motorists are advised to use extra caution on the roads early this afternoon as conditions have been reported to be icy and slick in parts of the area. Drivers should slow their speeds and allow more stoping distance.
