Top Ten Fugitive, Sex Offender Caught by Police

Fugitive has six warrants out for his arrest.

A fugitive from McHenry County Sheriff's Office's Top Ten Most Wanted List was apprehended at his residence in Chicago Wednesday.

Octavio Nunez, 37, 4547 S. Mozart Ave. in Chicago was charged with a number of counts, including two warrants in McHenry County for violation of the sex offender registry and one warrant for resisting arrest.

According to the McHenry County Sheriff's Office, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office Fugitive Apprehension Unit, United States Marshal’s Service Great Lakes Regional Fugitive Task Force and Immigrations Custom Enforcement received information that Nunez was possibly living in Chicago.

Investigators conducted surveillance outside of Nunez’s suspected residence and observed Nunez’s wife driving in the neighborhood, where police made contact with her. After his wife could not provide a reason for her presence in the neighborhood Nunez was apprehended inside his residence, according to the Sheriff's Office.

Nunez was wanted on six separate warrants for his arrest out of McHenry County, Kane County and Federally.

In McHenry County, Nunez had two warrants for violation of the sex offender registry and one warrant for resisting arrest; he was wanted for violation of the sex offender registry and criminal sexual abuse by force in Kane County; and the Federal I.C.E. warrant was for illegal reentry into the country.

According to the McHenry County Circuit Court Web site, Nunez has had two criminal misdemeanors and three criminal felony cases filed against him since 1996.

Bond was set at $70,000 in McHenry County and $350,000 in Kane County. No bond was set for the Federal I.C.E charge.
