Teenager on Bike Collides with Car Near Crystal Lake South High School

A young boy sustained minor injuries on Thursday morning after he collided with a moving car near the back entrance to Crystal Lake South High School.

Several witnesses reported seeing the young boy - reportedly a middle school student from Lundahl - laying in a driveway after the collision. The accident occurred around 7 a.m., when high school and middle school students were making their way to school.

Crystal Lake Police Cmdr. Dan Dziewior said the boy was cutting through the backside of Crystal Lake South High School's property and crashed into a moving vehicle. The back entrance to South is located near Concord and Amberwood drives.

The boy fell to the ground and sustained a "few scrapes and road rash," Dziewior said. As a precaution, he was transported to a local hospital to be checked by medical professionals.

No citations were issued, Dziewior said.
