Teen Charged for Stealing Money, Drugs; Man Arrested for Threatening Teen with Machete

A Wonder Lake teen and two Wonder Lake men were arrested Monday following the alleged theft of a safe containing drugs and money, and the safe owner's apparently forceful attempt to retrieve the items. 

The Wonder Lake juvenile on Sunday, Oct. 6 stole a safe containing less than $600 cash and an unknown amount of drugs from Steven A. Miller, 20, of 8514 Elm St., Wonder Lake.

Miller chose not to report the safe stolen, the Sheriff's release states. 

Miller and another Wonder Lake man, Riley B. Farrar, 18, also of 8514 Elm St., confronted the teen on Monday and found the safe inside the juvenile's car, the Sheriff's release states. 

Miller and Farrar damaged the minor’s car while attempting to retrieve the stolen property, the Sheriff's Office said. 

Miller and Farrar then unlawfully entered the minor’s home and threatened the him with a machete, the release states. The Sheriff’s Office was called at which time Miller and Farrar left the minor’s home.

Sheriff’s deputies later located Miller and Farrar and took them both into custody. 

The juvenile was arrested Monday, Oct. 7, and charged with theft, a Class 4.

Miller was arrested Monday, Oct. 7, and charged with:

  • Armed violence, a Class X
  • Criminal Trespass to a Residence- Class 4
  • Criminal Damage to Property- Class 4 

Farrar was arrested Monday, Oct. 7, and charged with:
  • Criminal Trespass to Residence - Class 4 

Bond for Miller was set at $150,000. Bond for Farrar was set at $5,000. Both men are scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 10.
