The first vehicle, a Jeep Wrangler driven Hogan, was traveling westbound on Lucas Road. Hogan's friend, Damian Dzitkowski, followed in a Buick.

As they drove down Lucas Road, Hogan failed to negotiate a curve, crossed the eastbound lane of traffic, exited the road and then struck a utility guide wire and trees after becoming airborne.

Dzitkowski was travelling directly behind Hogan, his friend, according to the Sheriff Department. Damian followed Hogan across the eastbound lanes, off the road, and struck a utility pole and trees. The two vehicles never collided with each other, the sheriff department stated.

Hogan was transported by Crystal Lake Rescue to the helipad at Centegra Hospital and transferred by Flight for Life to Condell Hospital.

Dzitkowski was transported to Centegra by Crystal Lake Fire Department where he was treated and released.

No further investigation is anticipated at this time.
