Sheriff: Man Arrested After Firing Gun, Fighting With County Resident

An altercation in unincorporated Woodstock resulted in a 29-year-old's arrest.

A 29-year-old was arrested Wednesday after he allegedly walked across someone's land, fired his gun, pointed the gun and then fought with the property owner.

Ryan D. Behm, 29, was charged March 21 with aggravated assault and misdemeanor criminal trespass to land after McHenry County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 9900 block of McConnell Road in unincorporated Woodstock for a shots fired call.

According to the Sheriff's Office, witnesses claimed that Behm had been firing a weapon on their property. The victim, who resided at the address, went looking for Behm and found him near a barn on the property. As the victim approached Behm, Behm pointed a handgun at him and a physical altercation ensued. Behm ultimately fled the scene. A handgun and loaded magazine were located at the scene.

Behm was taken into custody after he was found near the intersection of Lily Pond and McConnell Roads, according to the Sheriff's Office. He was transported to Northern Illinois Medical Center for treatment of injuries he received in the physical altercation with the victim and was transported to the McHenry County Adult Correctional Facility and released after posting his $150 bond.

The Sheriff's Office said that the investigation is continuing and more charges could be filed.
