Sheriff Continues Search for 'Handcuffed' Suspect

Residents warned to stay indoors.

McHenry County Sheriff's Deputies are continuing to search for a suspect that got away Wednesday night in .

The Sheriff's Office sent out automated messages to county residents and McHenry County College Wednesday night warning residents to stay indoors while deputies searched for an escaped burglary suspect.

The message said that a handcuffed white male had escaped police custody in the area of Hillside Road and Walk Up Road in Crystal Lake. The message described the male as wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans, white tennis shoes and a camouflage jacket.

WGN Television is reporting that the burglary suspect kicked out the back window of a police car and escaped.

warned their night students Wednesday night about a suspect running around in handcuffs.

According to a MCC official, the contacted the college about the suspect and that the students should take extra care when traveling home.

A Sheriff's Deputy reached for comment said the case was still being investigated and that more information would soon be available.
