Sheriff Arrest: Woodstock Men Caught with $75K Worth of Cocaine

Rafael Perez-Serrato, 46, and Ismael Ayala, 31, both of Woodstock were arrested Friday and charged with several drug-related offenses.

Two Woodstock men were arrested Friday after they were caught in possession with more than a kilo of cocaine with a street value of $75,0000.

McHenry County Sheriff Keith Nygren said the arrest was the result of an undercover narcotics investigation into cocaine sales in the Woodstock area.

On Friday, March 22, members of the McHenry County Sheriff’s Office, DEA and Woodstock Police Department made two separate traffic stops in the Woodstock area and conducted a search warrant at a home at 1980 Julie Street in Woodstock, Nygren said in a release.

As a result, sheriff deputies seized about 1,180 grams of cocaine (over one kilogram) and 512 grams of cannabis, Nygren said.

Officers also found two digital scales, packaging materials, a Walther PPK .380 hand gun, ammunition, a 1994 Ford Mustang, a 1996 Plymouth Voyager, a 2001 Chrysler PT Cruiser, a 2003 Lincoln Navigator, a 2003 Ford F-150 Lightning, a 2004 Dodge Neon, a 2005 Honda CBR, and $13,831 U.S. Currency, the release stated.

The estimated street value of the drugs recovered is over $75,000, Nygren said.

The following men were arrested:

Rafael Perez-Serrato, 46, 1980 Julie St. Woodstock. Serrato was charged with:

  • Unlawful possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver (Class X)
  • Unlawful delivery of a controlled substance (Class X)
  • 2 counts unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class 1)
  • Controlled Substance Trafficking (Class 2)
  • Unlawful Poss. of Cannabis w/Intent to Deliver (Class 3)
  • Unlawful Possession of Cannabis (Class 4)

Serrato is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 1. His bail was set at $650,000.

Ismael Ayala, 31, 1980 Julie St., Woodstock. Ayala was charged with:

  • Unlawful possession of controlled substance with Intent to deliver (Class X)
  • Unlawful possession of a controlled substance (Class 1)
  • Unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver (Class 3)
  • Unlawful possession of cannabis (Class 4)

Ayala is scheduled to appear in court at 9 a.m. April 1. His bail was set at $300,000.
