Sex Offender Map: See Where Sex Offenders Live in Crystal Lake Before Halloween

With the Halloween holiday approaching, parents can check the Crystal Lake Police Department's interactive sex offender map to locate any offenders in their neighborhood.

Before parents send their little ghosts and goblins trick-or-treating this Halloween, they may want to consult the Crystal Lake Police Department's interactive sex offender locator map.

The map allows Crystal Lake residents to input their own home address and locate any sex offenders living within a two-mile radius.

Currently, there are 19 offenders registered within Crystal Lake, according to the map. Click here to see the registered offenders.

In addition to providing the name and address of the registered sex offenders, the website also provides a photograph of the registered offender, and lists what level of offender they are. Police are constantly updating the map.

Per state law, registered sex offenders are not permitted to participate in public holiday events involving children. Therefore, sex offenders are not allowed to distribute Halloween candy to children, nor can they dress in costume in the public.

To search for offenders in your area, click on this link to the Crystal Lake Police Department Offender Search page.

Once on the page, residents also can register to receive e-mail alerts. The alerts are sent in the event that a published offender registers at an address within one mile of your own home.

The Crystal Lake Police Department Offender Search page also has a free, short informational program for parents to watch. Some of the highlights include the following statistics:

  • 45 percent of sexual assault victims are under age 12.

  • 75 percent of victims know their attacker.

  • An estimated 80 percent of all house addresses have at least one registered sex offender living within one mile.

  • More than half of rape/ sexual assault crimes happen within one mile of the victims' homes.
