Second Attempted Abduction Reported this Month

The incident is similar to one that happened Jan. 3, when an 11-year-old boy was waiting at his bus stop near the Silverstone subdivision in Carpentersville.

For the second time this month, two Hispanic males in a white van reportedly approached an Algonquin Middle School student near a bus stop, demanding she get into the van.

The alleged incident occurred about 9:30 a.m. Tuesday when the 13-year-old girl was walking to her bus stop on Teton Parkway near Glacier Parkway, according to an alert sent out by  Principal Peggy Thurow. The area is just north of County Line Road near Routes 25 and 62 in Algonquin.

The email alert stated that when the girl refused to get inside the van, the driver became more verbally forceful. The girl fled from the vehicle and told an adult. The incident was reported to the Algonquin police.
