Search Continues for Missing Crystal Lake Man

Police have received two reported sightings.

Police, friends and family continue to search for a Crystal Lake man who's been missing since Dec. 16.

Timothy "T.J." Schomer, 20, was last seen Dec. 16 at his mother's townhouse in downtown Crystal Lake and was last heard from around 11 p.m. the same day. Schomer did not report to work Dec. 17. A missing persons report was filed Dec. 18.

Schomer was hospitalized for a suicide attempt within the last month, police said.

Schomer is listed as 5'11'', 145 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes. He has a heart tattoo on the right side of his neck and a bass clef tattoo on his left forearm. He was last seen wearing a T-shirt, blue jeans, tennis shoes and possibly a military-style hat.

Police said they have received two reported sightings of Schomer in the downtown area of Crystal Lake in the past several days. Schomer reportedly was seen purchasing cigarettes on Saturday between 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. at the Marathon gas station on Brink Street, and again on Sunday evening near Williams and Woodstock Street.

Both callers recognized Schomer by the distinctive tattoo on the right side of his neck of a heart and the words “Stupid Kid”.
