Route 14 Accident Turns Car Over, Slows Traffic

A 74-year-old Crystal Lake man was cited at the scene.

A 74-year-old Crystal Lake man was cited after a traffic accident Thursday on Route 14 resulted in a turned over car.

Ronald E. Oerkfitz, 74, of Crystal Lake was cited for failure to yield when turning left after he allegedly turned his 2011 Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck north on Exchange and into the path of a Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by a 30-year-old Cary man.

Neither driver was seriously injured.

According to , emergency crews responded to the intersection of Route 14 and Exchange Drive at noon Thursday.

Police conducted manual traffic direction as both eastbound and westbound Route 14 traffic was reduced to one lane in each direction, until the vehicles and debris could be removed.
